St. Jude patients and their families were treated to a mini-concert recently when artists Gunnar and Matthew Nelson visited the hospital. After a tour of the hospital, the duo performed in the Danny Thomas/ALSAC Pavilion. "This is our first visit to St. Jude," said Gunnar. "And I've got to tell you, St. Jude is absolutely amazing."
The twins, sons of the late artist Ricky Nelson, performed a couple of their own songs, including their 1990 chart-topping single "(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection." But the other songs were from their father's collection of hits: "Hello Mary Lou," "Travelin' Man," and "Garden Party." Those at the concert joined in on the refrain of "Garden Party."
The Nelson twins were in Memphis to perform at a free concert at Naval Support Activity Mid-South. They were accompanied to St. Jude by Navy personnel, who handed out Navy caps and the Nelsons' CD, "Like Father, Like Sons."
